Who runs this site
Douglas Clarke, for Clarke Industries Inc., a company based in British Columbia, Canada. We are not in Gainesville and we are not a contractor. We write a sourced guide and run a referral line.
Gainesville Water Damage Advice is a free referral and information service, not a contractor. Calls go through our call-tracking line to independent local restoration companies, and we may be paid when a call qualifies. We do not do the work and do not set prices or availability.

Why this site exists
When the ceiling under the attic unit starts to drip, or a summer storm finds its way in, most of what turns up in a search is a company asking you to call it. This site leads with what to do safely, ties each fact to the agency or standard behind it, and puts a phone line after that.
How calls are routed
- You call the number on this site. It is free and commits you to nothing.
- Our call-tracking line routes the call to an independent restoration company that serves Gainesville and is taking calls.
- That company answers. If you want a visit, they assess the damage and quote their own price.

The network or the company that answers may record or log calls. More on how this service works.

Where the facts come from
Federal agencies, the industry standards body, the insurance industry's research group, and Georgia and local government offices and utilities:
- Triple-I (Insurance Information Institute)
- U.S. EPA
- NOAA NCEI
- National Weather Service, Peachtree City/Atlanta office
- CDC
- Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire
- National Weather Service, National Water Prediction Service
- FEMA FloodSmart (National Flood Insurance Program)
- National Weather Service (NOAA)
- IICRC
For prices, where no official source publishes them, we compare published consumer cost guides and a trade magazine, and say that is what they are:
How facts are checked
- Every factual statement has a numbered note pointing to its source, with publisher, page and date.
- We read sources directly, note where they disagree, and leave out claims we could not source.
- AI tools assist with drafting. A person checks each claim against its source before publishing, and every guide shows its review date.
- There are no reviews, ratings, testimonials or badges here, because we have none of our own to show.
Last reviewed
Every guide shows the date it was last checked against its sources. The whole site was last reviewed on October 24, 2026.
Photos
Photos are illustrations made with an AI image tool. They do not show real technicians, customers, or the companies that answer calls.
